Verte de Fougerolles offers very herbaceous scents and is elegant as well as mellow. An absinthe that will please beginners and confirmed drinkers.
It is an authentic product produced according to a traditional Swiss recipe drawn from a treaty on the production of spirits in the 19th century.
Verte de Fougerolles is produced exclusively from plants and seeds without any added sugar.
Its colour is 100% natural and is obtained by infusion of different flowers and leaves (to extract the chlorophyll). It is not filtered.
Verte de Fougerolles has the particularity of having been produced from a distilled blend (each plant macerates and is then distilled individually before blending).
An excellent absinthe for fabulous sensations !
Nose : Very herbaceous. Combines mellowness and green anise.
Palate : Mellow, round and well-balanced. Successively suggests notes of veronica, fennel and green anise, followed by the bitterness of the grand wormwood.
Finish : A good Length. Marked by a persistent bitterness
- During the Belle Epoque, after Pontarlier, Fougerolles had the highest number of producers of absinthe. Sometimes some of the casks used in Fougerolles were sent to Pontarlier to cover their needs.
-
Verte de Fougerolles participated in the 2007 Absinthiades ; it was awarded 7th place.
The Devoille distillery was founded in 1859. It still bears the name of its founder, Paul Devoille, since he largely contributed to its success and the beginning of the century. He is to be thanked for the recipe of Libertine (1894), now preciously kept at the Musée des Eaux de Vie in Lapoutroie, France.
After having belonged to Raymond Gouttefroy (son-in-law of Paul Devoille), the distillery was handed over to René de Miscault in 1985. The latter considerably changed the running of the company and enlarged the range of its products and also opened the Paul Devoille distillery to the public.
Today it is Hugues de Miscault, the son of René de Miscault, who runs this family distillery.

Nose (before adding water): very green, it goes from a hay hardly dry smell to a mowed lawn scent. (!!!)
Palate : A fresh anise and a nice length that continues on notes of dried leaves.
A very interesting absinthe that combines freshness and richness of a real savoury alcohol.
Very good buy. Thank you.
